Young Professionals Cafe aims to facilitate young professionals in a unique, interesting and fun way, so that they can contribute what they learn to their profession and our community. YPC also works together with various organizations.
That is why our organization has opted for four SDGs, namely SDG 5, 8, 11 and 17.

SDG 5: Gender Equality

Ending all discrimination against women and girls is not only a basic human right, it’s crucial for a sustainable future; it’s proven that empowering women and girls helps economic growth and development.

This SDG was chosen because we strive for gender equality at our events for young professionals. That is why we welcome all young experts. We offer equal opportunities to everyone. This also applies to our partnerships.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

The SDGs promote sustained economic growth, higher levels of productivity and technological innovation. Encouraging entrepreneurship and job creation are key to this, as are effective measures to eradicate forced labor, slavery and human trafficking. With these targets in mind, the goal is to achieve full and productive employment, and decent work, for all women and men by 2030.

For Suriname to become more successful as a country, we need more job opportunities for both men and women. That’s why SDG 8 is important to us. We help to create opportunities for entrepreneurs, who in turn, create career and business opportunities for others. This creates a cycle that can contribute to new job opportunities in our society, but also good cooperation between the various entrepreneurs.

SDG-8

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Making cities sustainable means creating career and business opportunities, safe and affordable housing, and building resilient societies and economies. It involves investment in public transport, creating green public spaces, and improving urban planning and management in participatory and inclusive ways.

It speaks for itself why this goal is close to our heart. We want to facilitate young experts as much as possible so that they can contribute to their area of specialization and our society. This is fully in line with SDG 11, which refers, among other things, to the creation of business opportunities. A professional who takes advantage of the opportunities we make available is likely to become a successful entrepreneur.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

The SDGs can only be realized with strong global partnerships and cooperation. The goals aim to enhance North-South and South-South cooperation by supporting national plans to achieve all the targets.

As a country, all SDGs should be considered as much as possible, but organizations and companies of the country can contribute by focusing on individual goals. Young Professionals Cafe has chosen this approach as well. Together with our partners, we are working on the realization of the selected SDGs. Moreover, we encourage collaboration within our target group, which is reflected in our events. We encourage young professionals to network and collaborate. It is important to know that strong partnerships sometimes start with small collaborations.
